Vanguard Investments Canada Inc. has launched two new exchange-traded funds that are noteworthy for their low management fees and very broad coverage of international equity markets.
Vanguard FTSE Developed All Cap ex North America Index (VIU) and a currency-hedged version of the same mandate -- Vanguard FTSE Developed All Cap ex North America Index ETF (CAD-hedged) (VI) -- opened for trading on Dec. 8 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The management fee for both the unhedged and hedged versions of the ETFs is 0.20%, making them the low-cost providers in the International Equity category.
The index holdings encompass a full range of large-, mid- and small-capitalization stocks in developed markets, excluding the United States and Canada.
Vanguard said the new ETFs will join six international TSX-listed ETFs "that have transitioned, are in the process of transitioning, or will transition to all-cap indexes." The changes to these ETFs were first announced by Vanguard in June.
Once these transitions are complete, Vanguard's line-up will have a total of 13 equity ETFs with all-cap exposure, the company said in a release.
The two new ETFs bring to 23 the number of TSX-listed ETFs offered by Vanguard, which as of the end of November was Canada's third largest ETF management firm with $6.3 billion in assets.
